The first day of the tour will be going through the middle Atlas Mountains towards the South, passing by Ifrane, the Moroccan Switzerland, and cedar forests in Azrou, home to the wild monkeys. It'll be an opportunity to enjoy the wilderness. Our journey continues over the Atlas Mountains, passing through several Berber villages such as Zaid, Medilt, and Rich until we reach Errachidia, where the Saharan landscapes begin. We will have a stop for a break or a mint tea at Ziz Valley, enjoying its beautiful panoramic view, before heading to Merzouga, where we will spend the night.
Today, we will explore the desert by a 4WD going around Erg Chebbi dunes stopping in several small villages such as Merdani, Khamlia, and Mifis. The first stop of the day will be at the lac of Merzouga (If it's full of water), where we can watch so many birds, such as the pink flamingos. The next stop will be in Khamlia, where you'll be welcomed with a cup of tea while enjoying their spiritual music, which is known as Gnaoua. Leaving Khamlia towards a small mountain where we will stop and take panoramic pictures of the golden dunes. We will continue driving on the black desert and stopping in some mines to search for fossils. Next, we'll be heading towards the dunes, where we will visit one of the few nomad families left in the desert, who are living under a tent and taking care of a herd of goats and camels. You will be introduced to family members and getting to know about their way of life while enjoying the taste of a nice cup of tea. Our next stop we'll be in a small local restaurant or a shadow of a tree for a picnic lunch (optional) before driving back to Merzouga, where we will leave the car and join the camel excursion. The trip takes approximately an hour, and along the way, you'll get to see the sunset before arriving at the camp, where you'll be greeted with a cup of mint tea and later a traditional dinner with live drumming music around a bonfire.
Today, you'll have to wake up early in the morning to watch an unforgettable sunrise over the dunes. After this beautiful sunrise, breakfast, shower, and the morning camel trek, we'll start our journey to Rissani, the first monarch of the Alawite dynasty, which flourished in the 17th century, and it is renowned today as the largest and the closest local market to the desert. Our day continues through the desert villages until we reach the impressive Tenghir, known for its Oasis and canyons. We'll have a few stops along the way to take pictures, visit and walk before getting to Todra gorges, where we will spend have around an hour walking before check-in into the hotel.
The last day of the tour will be from Todra gores back to Fes, via the adventurous roads of the Middle Atlas Mountains, until Rich, where we will be using the same road as the first day. We will get to Fes by the end of the day.
