What should I know before booking this 3-day package?

  1. The tour begins in Merzouga village in the late afternoon — around 16:00 in winter and 18:00 in the hotter months. Upon arrival at our office, you can safely park your car and prepare a small bag with everything you need for 2 nights in the desert camp. Any extra luggage can be stored at our office or, if you prefer, we can transfer it directly to the camp for you. This tour is a full desert adventure package, including camel rides, ATV/quad bike rides, and a 4×4 desert tour. Both activities are safe and guided by experienced professionals, ensuring you have a fun and secure experience in the Sahara.
  2. The desert climate can be extreme, so it’s important to prepare accordingly. If you are visiting in summer, temperatures during the day can be very high, so there will be breaks between activities to rest and stay hydrated. Even at night, temperatures can remain hot, so light clothing is recommended. In winter, the days are usually mild and pleasant, with temperatures reaching around 25°C (77°F). However, nights can be very cold, sometimes dropping to 0°C (32°F) between December and February, so warm clothing and blankets are essential.
  3. The camel ride lasts about 1 hour on the first day, allowing you to enjoy the stunning dunes and take photos during the sunset. On the second day, there is an option to extend the camel trek by an extra hour to catch the sunrise — a truly magical experience. Riding a camel through the soft, golden dunes is a highlight of the tour and gives you a real sense of the vastness and tranquility of the desert.
  4. The tour combines a variety of experiences. The 4×4 desert excursion allows you to explore panoramic views, visit remote nomad villages, and discover hidden parts of Erg Chebbi. The ATV/quad bike ride is an exhilarating way to explore the highest dunes, perfect for watching the sunset and taking unforgettable photos.
  5. This package is all-inclusive for the desert portion of your trip. It includes comfortable desert camp accommodation with cozy Berber tents, as well as breakfast, lunch, dinner, and water during your stay. Other drinks are not included, but tea and coffee are usually available at the camp. Meals are traditional Moroccan dishes prepared by the local Berber staff, giving you a taste of authentic Sahara cuisine.

Day 2: Desert Camp - 4x4 Excursion - Nomad Families - Berebr Villages - ATV/Quad Excursion

Today you will wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes — a magical and peaceful moment in the Sahara. After breakfast at the camp, we will begin our 4x4 journey to discover the desert and its hidden treasures.

Our first stop will be Khamlia, a small village known for its Gnawa people. They are descendants of Africans who came to Morocco more than a hundred years ago. The Gnawa have kept their culture alive through music and dance. In the village, you will visit a local association where they perform their traditional Gnawa music — a spiritual and energetic rhythm that reflects their history and heritage.

Mines & Fossils
We will then continue to the M’ifis mines. Apart from being a tourist destination, the Merzouga desert is famous for its fossils and minerals. The mines are set on a high plateau that offers an incredible panoramic view of the Erg Chebbi dunes. These open mines are still active, and Berber workers face the daily challenge of working in pits more than 35 meters deep. Along the way, you may also come across fossil stones, for which this region is well known for.

Nomad Berber Families
During the tour, we will also visit a nomadic Berber family who still live in traditional tents in the middle of the Sahara. You will be warmly welcomed with a glass of mint tea while learning about their simple lifestyle, customs, and daily life in the desert.

Quad Bike Sunset Adventure
In the late afternoon, your adventure continues with an exciting quad bike (ATV) ride. You will spend about one hour riding into the highest sand dunes of Merzouga, the perfect place to watch the sunset and take amazing photos. This thrilling experience is both fun and unforgettable.

After the quad ride, we will return to the camp where a delicious dinner will be served, followed by another magical night under the desert sky.
