Today you will wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes — a magical and peaceful moment in the Sahara. After breakfast at the camp, we will begin our 4x4 journey to discover the desert and its hidden treasures.
Our first stop will be Khamlia, a small village known for its Gnawa people. They are descendants of Africans who came to Morocco more than a hundred years ago. The Gnawa have kept their culture alive through music and dance. In the village, you will visit a local association where they perform their traditional Gnawa music — a spiritual and energetic rhythm that reflects their history and heritage.
Mines & Fossils
We will then continue to the M’ifis mines. Apart from being a tourist destination, the Merzouga desert is famous for its fossils and minerals. The mines are set on a high plateau that offers an incredible panoramic view of the Erg Chebbi dunes. These open mines are still active, and Berber workers face the daily challenge of working in pits more than 35 meters deep. Along the way, you may also come across fossil stones, for which this region is well known for.
Nomad Berber Families
During the tour, we will also visit a nomadic Berber family who still live in traditional tents in the middle of the Sahara. You will be warmly welcomed with a glass of mint tea while learning about their simple lifestyle, customs, and daily life in the desert.
Quad Bike Sunset Adventure
In the late afternoon, your adventure continues with an exciting quad bike (ATV) ride. You will spend about one hour riding into the highest sand dunes of Merzouga, the perfect place to watch the sunset and take amazing photos. This thrilling experience is both fun and unforgettable.
After the quad ride, we will return to the camp where a delicious dinner will be served, followed by another magical night under the desert sky.

On your last morning, it is worth waking up early again to see the sunrise. After breakfast and a shower at the camp, you will prepare for the return to Merzouga by a 4x4 car transfer directly from the camp.
Yes, the 3-day Merzouga desert tour can be fully customized. You can change the schedule and choose the activities you like. For example, you can spend more time on a camel ride or enjoy more off-road adventures in a 4x4 vehicle.
The difference between the standard and luxury camps is in comfort and privacy. The standard camp has simple tents with shared bathrooms. It is a good choice if you want an affordable desert experience. The luxury camp offers private tents with proper beds and ensuite bathrooms. It is more comfortable and perfect for travelers who want a premium stay in the desert.
You can also skip some activities and replace them with others. If you prefer, you can skip the ATV ride and have a longer camel trek, or skip part of the camel ride to enjoy more time in a 4x4 desert excursion. The tour can be adjusted to suit your interests.
Extra adventures like a buggy or motocross ride can also be added. A one-hour buggy ride costs 75 euros per person (for two people in the buggy), and a one-hour motocross ride costs 150 euros per person. These activities let you explore more of the desert and add excitement to your trip.
It is also possible to book only one activity without taking the full tour. You can choose just a camel ride, an ATV / quad tour, a buggy excursion, a tour by motocross, or a 4x4 desert excursion. This way, you can enjoy the desert exactly how you want, whether for a short adventure or a complete experience.
