What should I know about this 6-days from Casablanca to Marrakech?

  1. This tour involves walking for about 2-3 hours each day while exploring the medina and during the desert tour, so comfortable shoes are a must. You’ll also need to get on and off camels (with help if needed) and walk over uneven ground at some historical sites.
  2. Sandstorms or snow in the mountains can sometimes affect our plans, but this doesn’t happen often. If we need to change the itinerary, we’ll make sure you still enjoy great alternative experiences.
  3. Your breakfasts and dinners are included in the tour. Breakfast usually has Moroccan pancakes, eggs, and mint tea, while dinners feature local dishes like tagines. For lunch, you’ll try more regional specialties. If you’re a vegetarian, just let us know in advance, and we’ll arrange meals for you.
  4. The Sahara Desert has very different temperatures in summer and winter. In summer, days are extremely hot, often reaching 44°C (111°F), but nights cool down to around 28°C (82°F). Winter days are warm and pleasant at about 25°C (77°F), but nights can drop to freezing—0°C (32°F) or colder. If you go there, wear light, airy clothes in summer and bundle up in warm layers at night during winter.

Tour itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca - Rabat - Meknes - Fes

We will pick you up in Casablanca and begin our journey to Fes. Our first stop will be in Rabat, where you can explore the impressive Hassan Tower and wander through the charming Oudaya Kasbah with its white-and-blue houses and sea views. From Rabat, we’ll drive through vast and fertile farmland, where olive groves, vegetable fields, golden cereal crops, and vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see.

We will then arrive in Meknes, a historic imperial city. Here, you’ll see the famous Bab Mansour, one of the most beautiful gates in Morocco, which leads to the grand palace of Sultan Moulay Ismail. You’ll also discover the area known as the birthplace of the first Arab dynasty in Morocco.

After exploring Meknes, we will continue our drive to Fes, where you will spend the night in a traditional riad, enjoying the warm Moroccan hospitality.

Day 2: A day to visit Fes

We’ll start the day exploring the narrow alleys and hidden streets of Fes, Morocco’s oldest city. Our first stop will be the grand entrance of the Royal Palace, followed by a visit to Mellah, the city’s first Jewish Quarter, built in the 16th century. Along the way, you’ll discover important cultural and historical sites, including Al Qaraouine University, recognized as the oldest university in the world still operating. We’ll also visit the colorful Tanneries, the Attarine Museum with its fine Moroccan architecture, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, the founder of Fes. The tour ends with a stunning panoramic view of the Medina, where you can see the city’s beauty from above.

Day 3: Fes - Ifrane - Cedar Forest - Ziz Valley - Erfoud - Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Desert)

We will leave Fes around 8:00 in the morning and begin our journey to the desert. Our first stop will be Ifrane, a clean and charming town often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and cool climate. You can enjoy a short walk here before we continue south to Azrou, a cedar forest area where wild Barbary monkeys are often seen.

The drive then takes us through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains to Midelt, where we can pause for a lunch break. Afterward, we head toward the Ziz Valley, famous for its endless palm groves and fertile farmland. From here, we make our way to Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with Moroccan tea and almonds before starting a camel ride into the golden dunes. Along the way, we’ll stop to watch the sunset over the desert. Later, you’ll settle into your tent for the night. Dinner will be served, followed by traditional drumming music around a campfire under the starry sky.

Day 4: Merzouga - Jorf - Todra Gorges - Dades - Roses Valley - Skoura - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou

Start your day early to catch the breathtaking sunrise over the desert. After breakfast, a refreshing shower, and a morning camel ride, we’ll begin our journey. Today’s route is packed with amazing views and cultural stops. We’ll pass through small towns and visit beautiful locations such as Tinghir, where you can walk along the Todra Canyon and listen to the gentle flow of its stream.

From there, we continue to Ouarzazate, stopping along the way at the scenic Dades Valley, the Mgoun area, and Skoura, where we may explore one of its historic kasbahs. In Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara” and famous for its film studios, we’ll make a short visit before heading to Aït Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage site is an ancient fortified village with stunning earthen architecture. We’ll explore it before settling in for the night.

Day 5: Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou - High Atlas Mountains - Half day to visit Marrakech

Around 8:00 AM, we’ll leave Ait Benhaddou and we’ll drive east through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains, stopping along the way for photos as we navigate the scenic, winding roads.

We’ll arrive in Marrakech around noon, where your local guide will meet you to begin a full exploration of the city. You’ll visit all the key sites, from the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square to the majestic Bahia Palace and the serene Saadian Tombs. After immersing yourself in Marrakech’s rich culture and history, we’ll head to your hotel for check-in and some well-deserved rest.

Day 6: Free time in Marrakech - Transfer to the airport
