What should you know about a week in the desert?

  1. When planning a Merzouga desert tour, it is important to know that some activities can be physically tiring. Riding camels, climbing tall dunes, or walking long distances in soft sand can take a lot of energy. Make sure you are ready for this level of activity and take breaks when you need to avoid getting too tired.
  2. The desert weather changes a lot. In summer, the daytime can be very hot, sometimes over 40°C (104°F). In winter, nights can be very cold, sometimes below 5°C (41°F). To stay comfortable, wear layers of clothing, use a hat or scarf to protect yourself from the sun, apply sunscreen, and bring warm clothes for the night. Drinking plenty of water is also very important because the desert air is dry.
  3. Safety in the desert is very important. Tours are led by experienced guides who know the desert well. Listening to your guide is very important for your safety, especially during camel rides, 4×4 or buggy rides, and overnight stays in the desert. Following instructions helps you enjoy your adventure safely.
  4. Also, remember that the desert tour plan may change because of the weather or other unexpected problems. Sandstorms, rain, or other conditions can affect activities. Being flexible and understanding these changes will help you enjoy your desert experience, even if the schedule is not the same as planned.
