On the first day, we will pick you up from Marrakech around 8:00 am. From there, we will head south through the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi n'Tichka, the highest mountain pass in the area. We will stop to enjoy the stunning views of the Atlas Mountains, the Berber villages, and take a break for coffee or tea.
Next, we will visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. This historic site has been used in many well-known Hollywood movies like Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. It was an important fortress on the old Salt Road. Caravans brought goods like gold, ivory, salt, and silk from sub-Saharan Africa.
After the Kasbah, we will drive through Ouarzazate, often called the "Gate of the Desert." Next, we will go to Dades Valley. We will pass through Skoura and Mgouna Valley, which is also called the Valley of Roses. We will see several Berber villages along the way. We will spend the night in Dades.
Accommodation:
We will leave Dades Valley in the morning and head to Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most stunning canyons. You’ll have time to walk through the canyon, listen to the river, and enjoy the views. After Todra Gorge, we’ll continue our journey to the desert. Along the way, you’ll see amazing landscapes, Berber villages, and oases.
We’ll pass through Erfoud, a small town famous for its fossil factories, where they create beautiful fossil art. From there, we’ll head to Merzouga, passing through the Saharan Oasis of Rissani. Depending on when we arrive, you may have time to relax. Or, we might start the camel trek right away. We will spend the night in a Berber camp in the desert.
The camel trek usually begins between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM in the summer. In winter, it starts between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM. After about an hour in the dunes, you’ll reach the desert camp. There, you can enjoy the beautiful Sahara dunes and watch the sunset. You’ll be served mint tea, followed by a local dinner in the restaurant tent. After dinner, you can listen to Berber music played by locals around the campfire.
Don’t forget to take a walk in the dunes and look up at the sky to see countless stars. Please note that the campfire is only available during cold months (at night) and when there’s no wind.
ACCOMMODATION:
On the last day of our 3-day tour from Marrakech to Fes, we will wake you up early. This way, you can enjoy the beautiful sunrise if you want. After breakfast and a shower, you will take a morning camel ride back to Merzouga. There, you will meet your driver/guide and begin the journey to Fes.
Along the way, we will pass through Errachidia, the largest administrative city in the desert region. We will then stop to enjoy a panoramic view of the stunning Ziz Valley. After that, we will head to the city of Midelt, known for its apples, where you can have lunch. Alternatively, we can stop a bit further in the small village of Zaida for lunch.
As we continue to Fes, we will drive through the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to wild monkeys. This is a great chance to take photos of Morocco’s natural beauty and even feed the monkeys. However, please remember they are wild animals and may not always be there.
Next, we will go to Ifrane, known as the "Moroccan Switzerland." We will arrive in Fes between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The exact arrival time depends on how long we stop along the way and when we leave in the morning.
